Double Deep Racking for furniture warehousing in Malaysia

Maximising Storage Capacity for a Global Furniture Supply Chain Hub in Johor, Malaysia

A major furniture distribution operation in Johor, Malaysia, required additional storage capacity to support growing inventory volumes and international supply chain activities. The facility receives furniture products from multiple sourcing locations and consolidates inventory for onward distribution, making efficient warehouse utilisation a key priority.

To maximise storage capacity within the available footprint, a Double Deep Racking solution was implemented, providing 7,508 pallet positions and making effective use of both floor space and warehouse height.

Country: Malaysia
Industry: Furniture Distribution & Logistics
System: Double Deep Racking
Special Features: High-density storage, reduced aisle requirements, optimised warehouse utilisation
Specifications: 9.35 m high | 7,508 pallet positions

The Challenge

As inventory volumes increased, the customer needed additional storage capacity without expanding the warehouse footprint. Maximising pallet positions while maintaining efficient warehouse operations was a key objective.

The facility handles large volumes of furniture products moving through an international supply chain, making effective space utilisation essential for operational efficiency and future growth.

The Solution

A Double Deep Racking system was selected to maximise storage density and increase overall pallet capacity. By storing pallets two positions deep, the solution significantly reduces aisle space requirements compared with conventional selective pallet racking, allowing a larger proportion of the warehouse to be dedicated to storage.

The installation reaches a height of 9.35 metres and provides 7,508 pallet positions, helping the customer maximise both vertical and horizontal warehouse space.

The system operates according to the Last-In, First-Out (LIFO) principle, making it particularly well suited to furniture storage applications where high storage density is a priority.

The Solution

The Result

Increased Storage Density

7,508 pallet positions achieved within the existing warehouse footprint.

Optimised Warehouse Space

Reduced aisle requirements allow more of the facility to be dedicated to storage.

Improved Supply Chain Efficiency

Higher storage capacity supports inventory consolidation and distribution activities.

Better Use of Building Height

The 9.35 m installation maximises available warehouse volume.

Future-Ready Capacity

The solution provides additional storage capability to support ongoing business growth.

The Result
This installation gives the customer a high-density, space-efficient, and scalable storage solution that maximises warehouse capacity and supports efficient furniture distribution operations.
